Overview

Are you passionate about improving systems and governance? Join RSSB and help shape the standards that keep Britain’s railways safe, efficient, and future-ready.

Location: London / Hybrid
Salary:
Competitive + Excellent Benefits

At RSSB, our standards are the backbone of a railway system that works safely, smoothly, and consistently across Great Britain. As our Governance and Systems Manager (known internally as a Senior Standards Manager), you’ll play a central role in managing processes that enable the development of those standards. You’ll also be supporting solutions to continually improve those processes, so they are efficient, effective and make the best use of current and emerging technology.

In return, RSSB can offer a great total rewards package that includes flexibility around core working hours. Smart working is also available to all staff, with the option to work from home. In-office days will be based in the City of London, supported by a commuting travel subsidy benefit.

About the Team

The Standards Management, Policy and Strategy team leads the way in developing and governing the industry’s standards. These standards underpin everything from safety and interoperability to efficiency and innovation — ensuring the railway functions as one integrated system.

You’ll be part of the Standards Management workstream, responsible for maintaining governance arrangements, monitoring compliance, and driving continuous improvement of our internal policies, processes, and systems.

Responsibilities

In this role you will deliver a range of activities that include;

  • Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of railway standards by managing relevant governance processes effectively and efficiently.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency, leading user acceptance testing for new tools or workflows.
  • Lead the analysis, documentation, and improvement of processes, using modelling to define and embed best practice.
  • Manage RSSB’s content management tool used to author RSSB standards — promoting consistent use, developing training, and supporting the transition towards a more digital, customer-focused approach.
  • Act as the key point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, building trusted relationships and representing RSSB as the subject matter expert on standards governance.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies and best practice to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who has sound experience in process or governance management. Rail industry or CCMS systems experience isn’t necessary, but we do need someone who can evidence their ability to adapt to and embrace both aspects of the role. Other requirements include:
